Life is continuing to move on with our without me.
I've joined the fray and have gotten a "real job" working alterations/retail/rental at a bridal store. It's going alright. I enjoy working there, and it poses it's own challenges, but it really isn't where I want to be.
I was offered a summer gig with Adventure Theatre. I'm not sure if I will take or not. I am also waiting upon some information from the Opera. And while I'm not sure that either of these places are where I belong, it takes me one step closer to an amazing future.
Where I want to be is totally unknown, as I've been waffling between a couple of choices for the last year or so. (I am so very fortunate to have a lot of great friends who listen to me debate the pros and cons about everything.) What I do know is that I really need to start my own theatre company. It can flop or it can fly, but I need to do it. I have director(s) and actor(s), and I am sure I can pull in some other favors. I also have a great person tagged to do the graphic design.
Said person is pretty amazing. Not to mention I owe him the name of my hopeful new endeavor!

Homeward Bound
I have had a wonderful time in DC working with the Washington National Opera, but the time to move on has come upon me. The winds are blowing me back to WI for a little while. I hope to save up some money that will allow me to get some financial security, and then head back out into the world of theatrical costuming.
It is great to know that I have some fabulous people pulling for me. Everyone at the Opera has been super helpful and really fantastic. They have also told me point blank that they would like to hire me full time at the start of the next fiscal year. It's pretty amazing to be wanted like that. However, with this industry, nothing is a certainty.
While out here in DC I have had a lot of time to do some soul searching and retrospective thinking. I know that I love theatre, and I do not regret a single thing that I have done to get to where I am today. However, I also realize that I can't keep doing this forever. At some point I want to have what other people have. Financial security for one. Actual relationships with people that I don't work with is another. I really just need to get out there and experience more life. I've realized that I've gotten so busy living for tomorrow that I don't really know how to live for today. Sometimes I wish that it was easier, but then I recognize that it is the battles we have overcome that makes us who we are. I have been truly blessed with great people in my life.

Restlessness
I'm done working a gagillion hours. I have moved on to doing boring work at work.
Now I am entering an uncertain period in my life. I don't know if I should go to grad school, and if I do go, where to go. I currently have nowhere to live, but I am looking. I also don't have gainful employment after Dec. 7.
I'm crashing at Andy's while I am searching. While here, I am helping him host Thanksgiving. I'm really excited.
Not much else.

I'll take "Sell your Soul" for 400
I may have made a minor error in taking some over hire work. I was offered the opportunity to work for Advantage Theatre, which is really exciting. The only bad thing is that I will be doing a 40+ week in at The Opera on top of doing 20+ hours for Advantage. However, it is more exposure, and I will do it. I will come out better from this experience.
I had dinner with my cousin the other day, and it was really fantastic! He made London Broil (beef), garlic mashed potatoes, and broccoli. For desert we had home made ice cream with raspberry sauce. I had a great time, and he is super funny person. I really appreciate all that he is/has done for me.
I am spending the weekend with Andy to celebrate my birthday. Tonight is staying in, tomorrow is "Shear Madness" and other activities, and Sunday is apple picking, the Packer/Redskins game, apple pie, and Ikea. I am really excited to be spending some quality time with friends!

Restless
I am growing restless in my life. I think that it perhaps means that I need a new challenge in life. Perhaps one that is not financially motivated. Well, not directly at any rate. Two words for you: grad school. The only problem is that I don't know where I want to go for it. I have decided however that I want to go for costume design. I know that there is a niche market for really good technicians, but I think design is more of a challenge. Also along with doing design, I am hoping that I will learn more about patterning/draping/tailoring. Perhaps i could find a program that also offers those courses. I think though that I will also have to take a class that focuses on drawing. Specifically life drawing. Because right now my people look really odd.

DC Living
Well, I have made it out to Washington, D.C. without incident. I have met my first cousin once removed, and I am currently staying with Andy and his roommates until I can find some better housing.
I start work on Tuesday, and I hope that everything will go well. I also hope that I don't die on the metro. My thoughts are with everyone, and I miss all of you bunches. I will be sure to update about the new job.

Opera anyone?
Well, I think that I am decided on the next step in my life. I believe that I will be accepting an apprentice position with Washington National Opera (in Washington, D.C.) as it is a great opportunity. I am pretty sure that I could bring myself to be very excited about it, but right now it is kind of hard. I am currently driving back to WI, and then I will have to get a flight out to DC to start this new leg of my life adventure asap. If only it paid better. That is one of the big things that is holding me back. Oh well, you only live once, and if that means living in debt, then I guess that will have to do.
I may as well move often and experience all that I can while I am still young. That who knows, maybe I won't go to grad school after all. It is all up in the air at this point, and I am trusting that there is a higher being out there that knows where I am supposed to end up in life. Not that I don't believe in free will, but when things like this apprenticeship show up unexpectedly, you have to wonder.
